4/11/23 – This is an original WW1 Imperial German Rifle bayonet. The bayonet features a sawback blade that’s in great overall condition. There’s some mild surface scratching and finish loss throughout the blade, but this is typical for WW1 era bayonets. There’s a few small areas of dark discoloration, but no major issues along the unsharpened edge or sawback spine. The base of the blade is maker stamped, and the spine of the blade near the base is Imperial proof stamped. The hand guard and bird’s head pommel have dark surface patina throughout and some mild surface textured roughness around the pommel (beginning signs of rust). The original scabbard has mild paint loss / chipping but no dents or major issues. The leather frog is worn but in great overall condition with no markings or stamps.
