9/2/22 – This is an original WW1 German Helmet Stirnpanzer. These are scarce metal plates that attached to the front of a M1917 German helmet, and were used by machine gun units and other high priority targets. This example is in very good overall condition and comes with a leather attachment strap that we believe is a quality reproduction. The strap is maker stamped as shown, but we can’t decipher the maker name. The metal has some mild surface rust, signs of aging, and discoloration. No deep rust or pitting on the exterior. The interior of the shell is stamped “MG 24” as shown. There is some mild pitting on the interior metal in various small spots.
