9/16/22 – This is a nice example of a Springfield Krag Model 1898 issued to the US military. The serial number dates this gun to about 1901. The stock has a military inspection stamp dated 1900. However, we believe this is an original stock that was sanded and the proofs reapplied. Overall, the gun is in nice condition. However, there is spotty finish loss and splotchy discoloration on most of the metal surfaces. Most of the remaining finish is along the barrel. Spotty oxidation on the butt plate. Comes with a nice leather sling and 11 rds of .30-40 Krag ammunition. Minor bruising on the stock throughout, but there is no major damage. The bore has good rifling with a few small areas of minor oxidation.
