4/26/23 – This is a nice example of a Springfield Krag Model 1898 rifle issued to the US military in 1899. This gun was shipped to the barracks for the 26th Infantry in Plattsburg, and is shown by serial on an included copy of the shipping manifest. Overall, the gun is in nice condition. There is noticeable finish loss on the barrel bands, left side of the receiver, and on the magazine. Some light spotty wear along the barrel. Wear around the muzzle. Light spotty oxidation on the left side of the receiver. The stock has a 1899 date and military inspection stamp. There is no major damage to the wood, but there are small dings and scratches throughout. Minty bore.
