8/18/21 – This is a scarce military Colt Model 1901 that was made in 1899. The ‘Model 1901’ designation is actually when the gun was sent back to Colt for modification, in this case to have the lanyard ring added. The gun has all matching numbers and there is an RAC military inspection stamps throughout. The gun comes with an un-marked leather holster. Nice wood grips with minor bruises along the bottoms. It has retained about 70% of its original finish. There are areas of spotty somewhat scratchy wear on the barrel, around the muzzle, on the top of the frame, around the high edges of the cylinder, underside of the trigger guard, and on both straps. Some small dings on the front strap. Some areas of discoloration and oxidation most noticeable on the cylinder and straps. The cylinder is tight and the action is smooth. Excellent bore – shiny with strong rifling.
