11/29/22 – This is an all original example of a rare and highly desirable Colt M1911 that was manufactured in 1913 and issued to the U.S. Navy. Only 6,000 pistols were shipped to the U.S. Navy in 1913, and only ~18,000 produced for that branch in total from 1912-1918. The pistol has a nice profile with most of the wear and patina along the high edges of the slide on both sides. There’s also some bluing loss around the muzzle, and on the mainspring housing. It has the proper barrel with disconnected ‘P’ and ‘H’ markings. The barrel has a strong, shiny bore and was well cared for, with just a little frost in the grooves. Excellent grips with no cracks or chips. Proper two-tone magazine with lanyard ring. Comes with a Colt archives letter stating that this pistol was shipped to the Navy yard in Brooklyn on July 30th of 1913.
