3/30/23 – This is a rare Nazi G.41 that was manufactured in 1943 at the Walther factory, and features rare scope mount for Zf 41/1 scope. This is the early version of the famous G/K 43 series of semi-automatic rifles, as production of the first 5,000 G.41’s were marked G.41 (W) before that designation was dropped. This change occurred in December of 1942, and this one has a two digit serial with ‘ac 43’ code, making it one of the first produced in 1943. These rifles were made in limited production early on in the war, with only 10,000 manufactured, and ultimately proved to be too time-consuming to manufacture and produce. They employed a gas trap system mounted on the end of the rifle barrel that was originally designed off of the Bang system which employed a full length operating rod. This system proved too costly to produce and unreliable enough through the rough environment of the war. This semi-automatic function of this rifle and larger magazine capacity was highly desirable on the Eastern Front. This specific rifle is fitted with an original ZF41/1 scope and the sheet metal mount. The optics in the scope show tiny specks and a crack in the glass. The right side of the receiver is marked “G.41” with the serial number and “ac 43” the war time code for the Berlin-Lubecker factory. It has all matching numbers throughout, including commonly replaced parts such as the muzzle cap. Excellent bluing on the receiver but most of the wear is on the front end of the muzzle/barrel and front band. The bore has strong rifling but there is some pitting throughout. Stock is in great shape with several waffenamts and no major defects.
