3/23/21 – This is a very nice example of a rare Mauser P.38 rig issued to the Nazi military in 1942. It is a first-year Mauser production, where only 19,000 of these were made, making it only slightly more common than the zero series or Nazi-marked svw 45’s. This one is all matching and has the proper “Eagle 135” military proofs. The rig comes with two period-correct magazines and an excellent 1942-dated holster. The holster has rivets, which is rare for this maker, and correct for this year holster, as per the P.38 Pistol Book on page 490. This gun was difficult to rate given its dull gray appearance. Our best guess is that it has retained about 90% of its original finish. There is thinning on the front strap and wear around the muzzle. Spotty oxidation on the front strap and right side of the slide. Comes with excellent grips. The bore has nice rifling, but there is minor pitting throughout.
