11/16/24 – For sale is an Amberg Gewehr 98 Mauser made in 1903. This was made in the first year of Amberg’s production of Gewehr 98s. The rifle is in good condition overall but is well-worn. The receiver is in the white but has darkened with age and very fine prickling of corrosion. The barrel retains its bluing but is fading from age. The stock is worn with many handling marks throughout but is free of any cracks or breaks. The rifle nearly has matching serial numbers but the bolt looks to be an armorer’s replacement. The bolt body has the old serial struck through and a new one stamped. The rest of the bolt was not renumbered and does not match the receiver. The bore is fairly bright with great rifling. The rifle comes with a muzzle cap and leather sling. The cleaning rod is slightly bent.
