4/26/23 – This is a minty example of a Model 1884 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine. Bluing on the barrel is even throughout. The trapdoor has an excellent case hardened finish. There’s some very slight finish loss on the rear barrel band, and some oxidation on the nose cap and front barrel band. The bore is bright and shiny, with sharp rifling. The stock is in immaculate condition, with only a few minor handling marks. A cartouche is stamped on the stock and is dated 1889. The buttplate has a swivel door containing a 3 piece cleaning rod. Overall a great example of a Model 1884 rifle.
