5/11/23 – This is an original pair of WW2 Kriegsmarine 8×60 binoculars by Carl Zeiss. The binoculars come with an original mounting arm on a display base, as shown. These 8×60 binoculars are often attributed to U-Boat Commanders, and this example is in excellent condition. The optics are crisp and clear with a thin reticle in the right eye only. The reticle has a long vertical line and shorter “t” cross at the center. Both eyes adjust individually, and the adjustment knobs are fully functional. The exterior of these optics are clean as well with very minimal surface wear. Stamped “8×60” with serial number “2161459”, and “blc” which is the maker code for Carl Zeiss. The original bakelite lens cover is intact and excellent condition with the original rubber string. The original mounting arm is also maker stamped “blc” and has functional, moving adjustment levers for up/down tilt, and left/right swivel. Makes an excellent display and is overall a top-condition example.
