8/4/23 – This is a very nice example of a Springfield M1 Garand. The serial number on the receiver dates to about January of 1945. The barrel is Springfield-marked and dated January of 1945. Springfield-marked small parts. The stock has a “P” proof on the wrist and faint SA and cross canon cartouches on the left side. The metal parts have retained about 97% of their finish with minor wear around the muzzle and on the high edges in general. Nice wood stock but there are minor dings and scratches throughout and a series of more noticeable scuffs on the underside. The bore has great rifling, but there is very light pin-pricking in the grooves. Muzzle reading: 3. Throat reading: 1.
