9/20/22 – This is a nice example of a 1938 JP Sauer K98 rifle with a “147” Sauer factory code. Most of the gun is matching, but the rear barrel band, bayonet lug, and one of the screws in the floor plate are mismatched. The front barrel band is un-numbered. Proper waffen proofs throughout. The stock has no visible numbering, but has very faint military inspection proofs on the right side of the butt stock. Overall, the gun is in nice condition, but there is some minor thinning and spotty oxidation on the receiver and along the barrel. More noticeable finish loss and spotty oxidation on the floor plate, trigger group, and rear barrel band. Excellent wood stock that appears to have been lightly sanded. The bore is shiny with good rifling and some areas with tiny pits.
