9/24/24 – This is an excellent condition, all-original US M1917 Trench Fighting Knife by L.F.&C. The knife comes with an original scabbard that’s in great condition as well. This example features a beautiful black triangular shaped blade with factory finish mostly intact throughout each side. Minimal surface patina and clean edges throughout. Very light scabbard rub wear and natural thinning near the tip. Overall one of the best examples we’ve seen of original finish on one of these 1917 Trench Knives. The hand guard is maker stamped and dated, and shows minor browning patina throughout the hand guard and exterior knuckle tips. The wood handle is clean and in great shape, but there is a hairline crack on one side stemming down from the hand guard. The scabbard is well marked with “HE” inspector stamp on the mouth piece and “MS” on the metal toe. All original rivets intact and a fairly clean olive green leather body. The leather still shows the original maker stamp, “JEWELL 1918” and all original stitching intact along the seam. One small weak spot of scuffing on the leather near the tip on the backside.
