1/20/22 – This is an extraordinarily rare 1900 Swiss DWM Luger with A-prefix serial number. This was originally an e-prefix gun but was one of only 171 changed to an A in 1914. Interestingly, the consecutive serial to this example (5083A) is currently listed at Simpson for $20,000! This one is all matching numbers, including the grips. It also features a ‘P.38’ relief marking indicating it was released by the Swiss military in 1938. About 97-98% of the blue remains, with a spot of bluing loss in the middle of the front strap, and a tiny bit more on the highest edges. There is also a small burr in the metal on the bottom of the back strap where something must have banged into the gun. Gorgeous strawed small parts. Excellent grips with minor handling wear and a correct Swiss magazine with blank wood bottom. NOTE: This pistol was returned after the magazine base broke in shipping. The crack has been repaired, but the repair line is now visible in the base.
