9/6/22 – This is probably the finest prewar Colt ACE we’ve encountered, and is also the earliest example we’ve had. Serial #168, made in the first year of production. Gorgeous Colt blue throughout with hardly any wear, just a few minor/thin surface scratches and a hint of muzzle wear. Mint bore and terrific wood grips. Original two-tone Colt ACE magazine. Barrel has proper, early leather buffers. There’s an ‘&’ on right side of frame, which usually indicates a pistol was sent back to Colt for repair, but we don’t have any further details. Overall just a fantastic example.
