11/14/24 – This is a scarce Kriegsmodell issued to the Nazi military at the end of the war. The Kriegsmodell variant of K98s were used to expedite production as features were simplified. Characterized by no slot for a cleaning rod, screwed in barrel bands, and no stock disc. It is all matching and correct, with a Waffen proof on the right side of butt stock. While there’s very little actual finish loss, there is noticeable brown patina under the finish throughout. Spotty oxidation on butt plate. The main bolt, receiver, and cocking sleave all have matching numbers. The bore on this rifle is in great condition being a 9.5/10 and the rifling is still strong. This rifle does come with a proper period correct leather sling. The wood stock is in overall very good condition with only one minor crack above the recoil bolt on the left side of the stock. The stock has typical wear with age such as scratches and pressure marks. The stock does appear to have been sanded at one point, but the Waffen stamp on the right side is still recognizable.
