10/29/24 – This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 1862 Police/Pocket Navy Conversion Revolver, manufactured in 1861. It looks like it was originally chambered in .36 Caliber, but the “6” appears to have been stamped over with an “8”. So our best guess is that it was converted to .38 Caliber. It is completely matching with a 4.5 inch round barrel. Stage Coach robbery scene on the cylinder (~95+% visibility). The entire gun features a beautiful and detailed floral filigree engraving pattern. We reached out to the Colt Archives, and they have no record of this gun. So our best guess is that is non-factory but period work. There is what looks like a wolf signature on the hammer, which can sometimes help identify the engraver. The gun is in excellent condition for its age. Some thinning on the grip straps. Fitted with very nice wood grips. The bore is mostly shiny with strong rifling, but there are some small spots of surface oxidation here and there. Fully functional. No FFL required.
