11/22/24 – This is a very nice example of a BYF 43 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1943. All matching with the proper “Eagle 135” military acceptance proof. It comes as a rig with a period-correct Radom holster (fits gun well), a proper “Eagle 135” marked magazine, and the original WW2 capture document. We acquired this gun directly from the veteran’s nephew who certified that this gun and rig came home just like this, so we didn’t want to separate anything. Written on the inside of the holster is the vet’s last name “TRIPODI”. You can see the same name is on the capture doc. You’ll also see that the serial number on the document is transcribed from the gun incorrectly – they haven’t written as “4816” when the actual serial number of the gun is “8416”. The nephew was able to confirm that this was indeed a mistake and that this document came home with his uncle. The gun’s original finish rates about 92-93% with general high edge and muzzle wear and some minor thinning on the front strap. Fitted with period-correct reddish bakelite grips. The bore has good rifling with light freckling in the grooves. De-cocker is functional. You can see on the inside of the holster a faint “bnz” and waffen ink stamp.
