8/24/23 – This is an original WW2 Era M1914 Sawback Bayonet. This bayonet was issued with the K31 rifle during the WW2 era. The blade is in great overall condition, with minor speckling of surface oxidation near the ricasso. There is no evidence of re-sharpening on the edge. The maker stamp on the base of the blade is HS (Hans Steimer); just below is the serial number on the cross guard, 37961. Wood grips have one surface scratch on the right side but otherwise show aging with no major problems. The scabbard is without dents, rust or pitting but may have been re-blued at some point. Crossed out, N appears in two spots on the scabbard, just behind the leather strap and on the mouth.
