8/18/23 – This is an original 1940 dated K98 bayonet with a matching numbered scabbard and original leather frog. The bayonet blade has a high polish glossy blued finish that shows mild finish loss around the high edges and near the tip. The edge is unsharpened and in great shape. The base of the blade is serial numbered on one side, and maker stamped on the other. The spine is “40” date marked. The cross guard and metal portion of the pommel and grip show mild patina, thinning, and finish loss throughout. Properly waffen proofed on the pommel and push-button. The scabbard has light finish loss throughout but no major dents or issues. The leather frog is in great overall condition with some mild cracking on the closure loop, and no visible markings or stamps. All original leather and stitching.
