6/16/23 – This is an English-made double barrel shotgun by Enos James & Co. The metal has retained about 30% of its bluing, with honest wear and an even patina throughout the barrels, but no signs of pitting or abrasive wear. A trace of the original damascus pattern is still visible along the barrels, mostly found near the muzzle and top of the barrels. and around the areas where the barrels meet. The receiver, trigger guard, and hammers have a more elaborate custom engraving in the metal. The metal shows small areas of original finish and fire bluing around these areas as well. The stock has a significant repair behind the tang that looks to have broken all the way through the neck of the stock, and was likely glued back together. The stock is in very good condition otherwise with deep checkering on the forearm and neck of the buttstock. The top of the barrel is marked “E James & Co Loveday St Birm.” The bores are in excellent shape and rate a 9/10. C&R or FFL required.
