3/27/24 – This is a nice example of a BSA Martini Henry Rifle issued to the South African Republic during the Boer Wars. The receiver is dated 1878, and there is a cartouche on the right side of the butt stock dated 1887. The finish on the metal parts rates roughly 85% with the majority of wear being along the top of the barrel. There is noticeable brown patina and spotty oxidation throughout. Very nice wood stock for its age. The bore has good rifling with some fouling in the grooves and some small pits here and there.
