3/20/24 – This is an excellent example of a last-ditch Japanese Arisaka Type 99 rifle from 1945. It is all matching with a completely intact Imperial mum stamp on the receiver. It has the proper late-war features, such as peep-style rear sight, rough machining, and wood butt plate. The metal parts have retained nearly all of their original finish, but there are some areas of oxidation here and there. The wood furniture shows the typical signs of wear and use – unit marking on the right side of the butt stock. The condition of the bore is poor – fairly worn rifling with surface oxidation throughout.
