11/21/23 – This is a clean example of an Arisaka Type 38 Training rifle made for the Imperial Japanese Army. The Japanese Arsenals would build rifles resembling their service rifles but meant for handling drills and blank firing only. The top of the receiver is stamped with the characters “Peace Type” and has a serial number stamped on the left side. The matching serial number is also stamped on the bolt body, firing pin, and nose cap. The bolt has no locking lugs as IS NOT SAFE TO SHOOT FULL POWER AMMUNITION. The has a rack number painted on the right side, and Kanji stamped “中式青 Within, Type, and Blue.” The bore is very dark and has no rifling as it is a training rifle. Comes with a tan canvas sling.
