9/20/24 – This is an excellent and correct example of an end-of-war Steyr BNZ 45 Kriegsmodell rifle issued to the Nazi military in 1945. It is all matching and has all of the proper characteristics for this variation: “Waffen 623” proofs throughout, mixture of phosphate and blued parts, crude machining (especially on the bolt), no bayonet lug, screw-fastened barrel bands, Mauser-made floor plate and trigger assembly, a late-war Walnut stock, and the stock has no numbering or proofs other than a single “Waffen 623” inside the inner channel of the stock. Overall, the gun is in excellent condition. There is very little actual finish loss, but there is an area of discoloration just behind the rear sight and spotty oxidation along the barrel, on the barrel bands, on the floor plate, and on the butt plate. The stock is excellent. The bore is like-new. This is a solid example of this late-war variation.
