05/06/2024 – For sale is a German Model 1871/84 Mauser rifle made in 1887 at the Amberg Arsenal. The Model 1871 rifle was the first successful and adopted rifle designed by the Mauser brothers. The rifle was updated with a tube magazine in 1884. The rifle is in good condition with matching numbers throughout. The receiver, which is normally in the white, is well worn and with a layer of patina. The barrel shank has some freckling on the finish along with the barrel bands and trigger guard. The unit marking has been ground away on the front barrel band. The stock is in great condition and has no signs of cracking or breaks. The bore is slightly dark with light shining through under some debris and could use a good deep cleaning.
