10/8/24 – This is a rare K date 3rd to 4th variation. B90 and S91 proofed with Droop Eagle Army Test Proof TP1. All matching except for the hold open latch which is a “42” marked armorer’s field replacement. Only the right side of the magazine release is S marked making this a transition K date from 3rd to 4th variation. There were only 1830 Sub-Variation 4s produced out of a total of 10,930 K Dates made. Very nice crack free original matching grips with nice checkering. Fine bore and mechanics. Original B90 proofed nickel magazine with aluminum bottom is correct for the K Date and is numbered 498a and is only 141 numbers from matching. According to Jan Still, most of these had a “Mauser hump”. This one does not, making it more scarce than other examples. The gun’s original finish rates roughly 65-70% with obvious wear throughout. Very nice bore with good rifling.
