10/18/24 – This is an original, matching example of a very rare Colt M1878 Frontier Revolver, London Model, chambered in .44 Russian! While we were unable to find much information on this exact variant, it was one of 50 shipped to Colt’s London Agency in 1887 and chambered in this caliber. This info has been confirmed by the Colt Archives and the letter will be provided to the buyer whenever we receive it. The barrel has the proper “double” roll mark with both the Hartford and London addresses on it. This one was shipped to London in February of 1887. It is in nice condition overall, but there is spotty brown “attic patina” and pin-pricking covering the gun. There are also some scratches inside the cylinder, perhaps because a previous owner was confused about what caliber this gun takes.
Fitted with period-correct blackish-brown hard rubber grips. The bore has good rifling, but there is spotty surface oxidation throughout. Fully functional. This is an antique – no FFL required.
