4/5/24 – This is a rare Colt M1849 Pocket Revolver “Wells Fargo Model”, manufactured in 1855 and chambered in .31 Caliber. Though over 340,000 1849 Pocket Revolvers were produced by Colt’s factory at Hartford, only a mere 4,000 of them were produced in this configuration with a 3-inch barrel and no loading lever. These would have been even handier for the pocket than their longer-barreled brethren and have been colloquially called the “Wells Fargo Model”. This one is matching and in fair condition. There is virtually no finish left with light pin-pricking throughout. The stage coach robbery scene is still partially visible. Fitted with nice wood grips. Fully functional. The bore has good rifling with light surface oxidation throughout.
