6/13/19 – This is a Japanese Shin Gunto Late WWII production Japanese sword. Measures 36.5 inches overall with a 25.75 inch blade showing a straight hamon fitted into a late war oval patterned blacked copper tsuba and brass habaki. Standard late war military gunto hilt fittings. The blade is in great condition but there is some light oxidation on the blade as shown. There are also three very, very tiny nicks in the blade (have to really look closely). The retention spring is functional. The light tan brown military steel saya (sheath) has patina and missing finish towards the tail end, as well as on the front / back spines. Fittings and strap have normal / mild wear. All original factory made for WW2 officers.
