10/9/19 – This is an original WWI era production rifle bayonet made by Erfurt. The bayonet is stamped on the spine “99” which is for the year 1899. The blade also has an ERFURT maker mark on one side and erfurt proofs. There’s similar proofs on the handle and scabbard – see photos. The blade has light spotty oxidation but no signs of sharpening. Blade is about 20.5 inches long. The biggest flaw on this piece is the blade has a little trouble going into the scabbard, and doesn’t go all the way into the scabbard. We believe this is due to minor damage / bend in the scabbard towards the tip end.
