1/2/20 – This is an all original and authentic WWI production Springfield model 1903 rifle. An iconic US military rifle that comes with an original sling, cleaning kit in the buttstock, and all original configuration. The barrel date and serial number indicate 1914 production. The metal is excellent and parkerized on the receiver with a blued barrel. The stock does show signs of light sanding, plus there is an arsenal rack number on the top of the stock. This tells us that the rifle was arsenal refinished after the first World War. at the arsenal. There is light wear on the floorplate and the trigger guard. The leather sling shows signs of aging and surface wrinkling / cracking but no deep cracks or issues on the sling. The bore is shiny and excellent, again helping justify our thought of this never being refinished.
