3/21/24 – This is an original example of a US Aviator Jacket from WW2. These jackets were popular throughout WW2, Korea, and Vietnam wars, and are highly sought after by collectors in today’s market. This example is unembellished with no exterior patches or insignia. Great overall condition with some natural use and aging wear on the exterior leather. This mostly consists of wrinkling and scuffing on the corners and crevasses / high rub areas of the leather exterior. No holes or major issues however, and normal pliability throughout. The cloth hem and sleeve-ends of the jacket are excellent and strong with good elasticity. The wool collar has some minor edge wear but is in great overall condition and intact. The interior zipper-siding is embroidered with small holes that spell “USN”. All buttons and zippers are fully intact and functional. Clean interior brown silk lining and original tag is still intact and attached. The tag is slightly frayed and worn, but the size is still legible, “44” (Large). See photos.
