2/1/21 – This is an original WW2 era production Japanese Officer’s samurai sword. The sword is October 1944 production, and would most likely have been issued to a Japanese NCO. The sword is in good overall condition with some mild signs of aging. The blade has some dark surface oxidation throughout, as shown. The handle still has the original mecugi, but there is a crack on one side of the handle, that appears to have been repaired with a nail. This is on the upper portion of the handle, near the hand guard. The reverse side of the handle has a functional release button. The scabbard is in great shape with no dents, but some mild paint / finish loss as shown.
