5/29/24 – This is a good example of an original WW1 Springfield US M1905 Cut Bayonet made by Rock Island Arsenal in 1918. This example has good blade that has been cut down to 10 inches. The blade looks to have been refinished as there is little scabbard marks or signs of additional sharpening. There are some dents on the flat top side of the blade. The blade is marked RIA 1918 on one side and US with the serial number on the other. That same side has a lightly struck “U.C. Mod” marking over the serial which could have been a modification in WW2. The grips are in average condition due to one having a moderate chunk taken out of it as seen in the photos. Nice hand guard and pommel. The Scabbard is in good shape with one chip at the tip and some patina throughout the metal side. One side of the scabbard is marked with the flaming bomb. Locking mechanism works as it should.
