12/27/19 – This is an original WWI era (1898-1914) rifle bayonet. This is a dress or parade bayonet, as the blade is longer (measures 20.5 inches long) and has a shiny finish compared to the military combat bayonets. The blade is in excellent condition with minimal wear, and no evidence of sharpening. The handle and hand guard both have dark discoloration / patina as shown in photos. The wood is in great shape with no cracks, and is tight. The leather on the scabbard is worn and scuffed throughout, but the leather is original and in tact. There is discoloration and wear on the metal areas of the scabbard. Overall in good collectible condition.
