11/23/21 – This is a nice example of a Winchester Model 1897 12 Gauge Shotgun, manufactured in 1917. All numbered parts are matching, but the condition of the barrel does not match the rest of the gun. Also, at 19 inches, it is shorter than a standard barrel, so it was likely replaced. 14.25 inch length of pull. The barrel has retained most of its bluing, but there is spotty oxidation throughout and areas of scratchy wear on the left side. The rest of the metal parts have lost most of their original finish with noticeable spotty dark brown patina throughout. the wood stock is excellent with very minor handling marks here and there. The bore is minty and shiny.
