1/12/22 – This is a nice Winchester M1917 rifle from 1918. Winchester is the most desirable and valued maker of these rifles, and this one is in good condition overall. It was re-worked at some point as many parts are marked with an ‘E’, indicating they were made at Eddystone. This includes the barrel, which is dated to June of 1918. Excellent parkerized finish on the metal parts throughout. Nice, original stock with handling wear and dings throughout but no major cracks. The nose is marked with an ‘R’, indicating it was made by Remington. The bore has strong, pronounced rifling but is very dirty and in need of a thorough cleaning. Bore rating may be more like a 7 or 8 out of 10, depending on how the cleaning goes.
