10/28/21 – This is a nice example of a Walther PP manufactured in 1941. It is in the correct serial range to have been issued to the Luftwaffe. It comes with a near-matching magazine in the same serial range. So it is very possible this gun was delivered to the Luftwaffe. It comes as a rig with the aforementioned magazine, a spare wartime magazine, and a 1943-dated pebble-grain holster. The gun is all matching and has the proper “Waffen 359” Nazi military acceptance proofs on the slide and frame. There is a “d” marking above the serial number on the frame. This is a known factory marking, but the meaning is largely a mystery to collectors. The gun has retained roughly 75% of its high polish finish. Most of the finish loss is on both grip straps, where the wear is spotty. There is also some freckling in the same areas. The trigger guard has lost most of its finish. There is minor wear around the muzzle and streaky discoloration on both sides of the slide. Tiny pits on the whole slide. Comes with excellent black bakelite grips. The bore is near-mint.
