1950's
N1027 - 24333

3/21/23 – This is a very rare P.38 made by the Ernst Thalmann factory in Suhl in the 1950’s. They only made about 120 of these guns. This one is all matching and has all the correct proofs. However, the proofs have been peened. In this variation, the main parts were usually newly manufactured by Ernst Thalmann. These weapons were marked with the A.B.9 logo. New production started for some weapon types that were needed for arming the newly established German Communist authorities. In the beginning, the readily available German WW2 weapons were used, although those weapons needed spare parts and replacement. This particular gun has retained about 96-97% of its finish. There is minor wear around the muzzle, on the front edges of the slide, and an area of tiny pitting on the left side of the slide. Excellent black plastic grips. Comes with a matching-numbered magazine, and a spare postwar mag with a mismatched serial etched on the bottom. Mint bore. De-cocker is functional. The hold-open does not work properly with this magazine. Comes with proper holster and a copy of Per Mathisen’s book, which features this specific pistol.
