7/19/24 – This is an original, early WW2 Pacific Theatre M-450 US Navy Flight Cap. This example features added communications headgear, which is shown by the sewn-on ear caps and wiring harness. The interior of the ear caps show crude lines of stitching, as these were hastily added for war use, and this example being no exception. The right ear cap slightly covers the original label found on the interior of the cap, which is by H.L.B. Corp. The cap is lightweight “summer” style and in excellent condition. All original stitching throughout is excellent as well. Original leather chinstrap has light wrinkling and mild surface cracking on the exterior but is clean and excellent overall. Also includes flight goggles, marked “AN 6530” on the nose bridge. The lenses are separating from the leather frame, with the right eye missing all of the stitching and being completely detached. The left eye is secure, however. Overall a great example of a WW2 original USN Flight Cap with added comms gear.
