This is an original WW2 German RZ-20 Parachute in excellent condition, unopened and un-deployed. The parachute comes in the original canvas carry case, which has address labels from the GI who sent this home. Also included is an original metal shipping / transit case, which again has the capturing GI’s address and information written in white on the exterior. One of the 4 clamps on the top lid is broken, and there’s natural aging and patina throughout the exterior shell, but overall these elements are all in great-to-excellent condition. The rubber sealing gasket of the lid is still intact, helping to keep the interior contents dry and very well preserved for 8 decades. The top of the transit container reads, “Wetterfester Behalterf Personenfallschrim / Anfordererzeichen Fl 414953 / Great-Nr 10-5454 B-1 / Hersteller: ebr 44 / RZ20”. Additional documentation is included depicting the efforts of the 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, and a photo of a similar documented example.
