4/3/23 – This is a super rare French Police contract Mauser C96 Broomhandle M1921. This particular variation was made with a standard frame and a “bolo” top and fewer than a thousand were made based on the serial numbers reported. These guns also came with black hard rubber grips, unlike the standard guns that had wood grips. At one time it was thought that this was a post WWI contract for French police forces, that gave this variation a number nickname of “French Gendarme”. This one has matching numbers throughout, including the grips which are hand numbered. The bluing is original throughout, and shows high edge wear on the rails and muzzle. There is also a general patina on much of the pistol. The bore has strong rifling with a little frost throughout. The grips have no cracks but do have notable smoothing.
