8/9/22 – This is an original Japanese Army Officer’s Type 98 Samurai Sword from WW2. The sword blade is factory made with no signature on the tang. The blade has a very nice tempered edge and no notable chips or major issues along the tip or edge. There are some small spots of dark discoloration and surface wear on the blade however. Some of this discoloration is along the edge and tempered areas, but it’s also found on the back of the blade and flat portions of the blade. The fittings display natural patina and the handle is in great condition. The wood mekugi has a small chip but still fits into the handle and functions. The scabbard has surface patina and some discoloration but is in great overall condition. There’s some mild surface cracking near the base of the scabbard.
