1/24/23 – This is an original Japanese Type 30 bayonet by National Denki (Matsushita Arsenal). The bayonet features a bird’s head pommel, straight wood handle, straight crossguard, and a blued, unfullered blade. The blade is in excellent condition with very nice finish. The only wear is mild surface scabbard wear. The edge is excellent with no signs of tampering. The wood handles have no cracks or chips, and the hilt is overall in excellent condition as well. Comes with a hardened / rubberized canvas scabbard with an attached double-loop frog. There is cracking and wear on the scabbard, as shown. The canvas is splitting along the edges in a few areas as well, but overall a rare scabbard and an excellent condition bayonet. From our research, this is similar to variation M or P, LB 115 in Labar’s book.
