6/15/23 – This is a Type 18 Murata chambered in 11x60mmR. This model was Japan’s 2nd domestically designed and produced rifle, manufactured beginning in 1885 with about 80,000 produced. It has retained around 50% of its finish, with spotty oxidation and surface patina throughout the receiver, barrel, and trigger guard. The receiver is marked with make and model information, written in Japanese. The mum has been completely ground off. The rifle is matching except for the bolt. The stock is in good condition given its age, with no major signs of damage, but there are handling marks and surface dings throughout. The butt plate has been welded in the middle. The bore is in good condition with strong rifling, but honest wear throughout and rates an 7/10.
