6/5/23 – This is an original early WW2 production Japanese Type 30 rifle bayonet. Made by Tokyo arsenal, and known as LB-75 Variation A in LaBar’s book on Japanese bayonets. This example has early features such as a bright, fullered blade, hooked cross guard, contoured wood grips with 2 washers and screws, bird’s head pommel, and a metal ball tipped scabbard. The serial number on the pommel indicates 18th series of production. The blade is in great condition with some light surface oxidation and speckling but no major issues. unsharpened edge. The pommel and cross guard have mild surface patina and typical signs of aging. No major cracks or chips on the handles. The scabbard has dark surface patina throughout as well but fits nicely and has no major dents.
