10/27/22 – This is an original WW2 factory made Type 98 Army Officer’s sword. The sword tang is stamped with a naval arsenal stamp, which is the same as an army Seki stamp. The sword blade is in good condition but there are some blemishes and strike marks along the edge. These strike marks are mostly near the tip and continue sporadically in different degrees of severity for about 13 inches down the blade. This is accompanied by some dark discoloration strike marks on the sides of the blade as well. The spine of the blade has blemishes and imperfections as if someone used the backside of the blade as a hammer or blunt force object. The tempered edge is still visible along the blade edge. The tsuba is iron and plain, and the handle has typical army fittings and wrap. Comes with an earlier WW2 production wood scabbard. There’s some mild splitting on the exterior of the scabbard as shown, but overall the scabbard is in great shape.
