7/28/22 – This is a WW2 production Japanese Army Officer T98 Sword. The sword has custom fittings and a custom wood scabbard. The blade is in good overall condition with a nice tempered edge and no notable flaws or chips along the edge or tip. There is some mild spotty oxidation and surface patina on the blade however. The handle and fittings are not factory-issued, and were likely added after the war or by the Japanese Officer (and his family). The tang shows a “SEKI” factory stamp and natural patina. The wood scabbard has some surface paint chipping but is in good overall condition.
